Upcoming App Chop Chop Soccer Looks Like Mobile Mario Strikers (And That’s A Good Thing)

Ever since the start of the World Cup, we have seen a slew of soccer apps come out. Unfortunately, the majority of the apps are soccer simulations, leading to obvious limitations on the small iPhone screen. There’s just no good way to pack all of the complexities that soccer offers, from the moves to the different types of passes to the great shots… there just isn’t enough screen real estate for the needed buttons.

Instead of a traditional soccer game, Gamerizon has made a soccer game that looks like the iPhone version of Mario Strikers, just with simpler controls.

“There are no virtual pads or buttons. All that’s needed is one finger to control all offensive and defensive actions. To move, you just slide your finger on the screen. To pass, shoot or tackle, you just flick your finger in the direction you want your player or ball to go. That’s it! Those commands make Chop Chop Soccer™ the most intuitive soccer game ever created.”

Be sure to check out the video below, the game looks like a ton of fun.

Stocking up on iPad games is a tad more difficult than iPhone games due to generally higher prices, so when an iPad title drops to only $.99, it’s kind of a big deal.  Today’s “big deal” is on Shrek Kart HD for iPad by Gameloft, having dropped all the way down to $.99 for a limited time.

shrekkarthd screen2 300x225 Shrek Kart HD For iPad Marked Down To Only $.99 For A Limited TimeShrek Kart HD is a Mario Kart-like racer that features most of the cast of Shrek, including Shrek himself, Donkey, Fiona, Ogre Triplets, Puss In Boots, Gingy, 3 Little Pigs, Pinocchi, Big Bad Wolf, and the Ghost of Lord Farquaad.  Each character has their own special abilities and unique kart attributes, along with the ability to utilize offensive and defensive power-ups to race to the front of the pack.

The game contains four different single-player modes, including Single Race, Tournament, Challenges, and Arena, and it also features six-player multiplayer via Wi-Fi, and two-player multiplayer via Bluetooth.  Shrek Kart HD contains 15 tracks inspired by the films, 11 power-ups, 19 cups in Tournament mode, and 72 challenges.

Since Shrek Kart HD is nearly identical to the iPhone version feature-wise — not graphically, feel free to check out our review of that version to learn more about the gameplay.

Shrek Kart HD is normally priced at $4.99, but for a limited time it is only $.99.
